About
This is why Bridging Ledger exists.
I'm Andy Croll. I run a UK Shopify store and keep its books in FreeAgent. For years, every Sunday before a VAT quarter, I'd be splitting Shopify payouts by hand — one payout, twenty-something orders, fees in two places, refunds in a third, and an evening gone.
FreeAgent had a Shopify integration once. It double-counted and people switched it off. Then in April 2025, they killed it. Their support article now tells affected users to enter Shopify transactions manually. So I built Bridging Ledger, because nothing else did this and I needed something to.
Why this exists.
The gap is specific, and it's been there a long time.
- FreeAgent has 200,000-plus customers. Many of them got it free with NatWest or Mettle, and never thought about leaving — until they tried to sell on Shopify.
- A2X and Link My Books are excellent at what they do, which is Shopify-into-Xero and Shopify-into-QuickBooks. Neither connects to FreeAgent.
- FreeAgent's own Shopify integration ran from about 2020 to April 2025, accumulated a 1.5-star Shopify App Store rating, and was discontinued.
- FreeAgent shipped a first-party Amazon UK integration in November 2023 and it's still running. So they didn't pull out of ecommerce. They picked Amazon over Shopify.
If you're a UK Shopify seller on FreeAgent, you've been getting told to do it by hand for over a year. Before that, you were getting told to use an integration that didn't work. I built the thing that should have been there the whole time.
What's deliberately small about this.
A short list of what Bridging Ledger doesn't do, because the narrowness is the product.
- One destination: FreeAgent. No Xero, no QuickBooks, no Sage, no roadmap to add them. If you want one of those, the right tool exists already.
- One source: Shopify. No Amazon, no Etsy, no eBay, no TikTok Shop. FreeAgent ships an Amazon integration. The other marketplaces aren't on our list.
- One country: the UK. Standard UK Shopify situation only. If yours has anything unusual — overseas customers, multi-rate inventory, special schemes — we should talk first to see whether we're the right fit.
- One person doing support. Me. There's no support queue and no SLA. There's an email address and a calendar.
The narrowness is the product. We don't compete on breadth because we don't have to — we exist for a niche that nobody else covers.
What you can expect.
A few specific commitments, given who's on the other end.
- Email replies inside one working day, usually. If I'm on holiday or away from the desk, the auto-reply will tell you when I'll be back. No "your ticket has been received" theatre.
- When something breaks, I'm the one fixing it. No tier-1 / tier-2 handoffs. The person who wrote the code is the person you talked to on the call.
- A status page that says the truth. If FreeAgent's API is down, or Shopify's webhooks are stuck, or our sync hasn't run since Tuesday, you'll see it on /status before you have to ask.
- A clean exit path. If you stop using Bridging Ledger, you can un-push every entry we created. Your FreeAgent is exactly where it was. No hostage data.
How to reach me.

- Calendar: book a call — for a 30-minute conversation.
- Status page: /status — current operational state, no marketing fluff.
